Client case study

The Stephens Family

Background

Jim and Karen Stephens, in partnership with their son Jonathan, farm over 600 acres in the Devon countryside and have grown the farm extensively over the last 25 years.

Running a successful agricultural business can be challenging and the requirement for sound business advice can have a huge impact on the outcome. Jim and Karen first engaged with Bush & Co in 2014 and rely on our experts for all compliance work which includes annual accounts, partnership tax return, individual tax returns as well as advisory work such as capital gains, inheritance tax and succession advice.

The Stephens family value the knowledge base and understanding of their business, as well as farming in general, which helps our team provide innovative solutions. They consider Bush & Co to be trusted business advisers who offer security of knowledge and who go the extra mile.

Building a trusted relationship

“We feel incredibly valued as clients,” comments Karen, “The team is hard working and diligent, accessible and approachable. They provide way more than an accountancy service and have enabled us to make informed decisions about the future of our business.”

Jim adds, “We have also been impressed by the advice on family business issues, which can be challenging for many people. Communication is exemplary and delivery of advice is always within promised timeframes.”

Jonathan concludes, “We need to work with an accountancy firm which can maximise our opportunities and provide bespoke advice. They need to thoroughly understand our business as well as our future aspirations in order to do this. We feel that the team at Bush provide a first-class service and are genuinely willing us to succeed as we look forward to future generations of farming.”

“They provide way more than an accountancy service – the team provides a first-class service and they are willing us to succeed.”
