Corporate Accountant - Qualified/Part-Qualified

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established firm and continue your accountancy career. This role is full-time and based in the corporate team, and there will be a requirement to spend some time out of the office to undertake audits. The varied nature of our clients will mean that you will be constantly challenged and continually gaining valuable experience.

Main job tasks and responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing and reviewing accounts, bookkeeping, and VAT for a variety of clients.
  • Preparing personal tax returns and corporation tax returns.
  • Assisting clients with their accounting software, including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
  • Ensuring work is being undertaken in the most efficient manner and being up to date with the most recent software developments and working methods.
  • Providing ad hoc support to the line manager as work arises.
  • Undertaking administration for the line manager, including team billing.
  • Setting budgets for staff and assisting staff with accounts completion.
  • Training and mentoring trainees within the team.
  • Having excellent client relationship skills and handling client queries in a positive and client-focused manner.

An ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • AAT/ACA/ACCA qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified
  • At least 3 years’ experience of accounts preparation work, including knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience of basic tax return preparation
  • Bookkeeping and VAT experience
  • Experience using Xero, Sage and/or QuickBooks
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel spreadsheet development
  • Excellent client communication and supervisory skills
  • Experience of working with charity accounts is advantageous
  • Familiar with filing company confirmation statements
  • Experience using CCH software
