Accounts senior

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional to move into a varied general practice role. The varied nature of our clients will mean that you will be constantly challenged and continually gaining valuable experience.

Our accounts teams ensure the clients’ needs are met in relation to their accounts and tax returns. These range from sole traders to medium sized group accounts & include both income tax as well as corporation tax. With a large array of clients ranging from high net worth individuals to medium sized companies, there is a good variety of work and challenges to deal with.

Main job tasks and responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing and reviewing accounts, bookkeeping and VAT for a variety of clients, including Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies.
  • Preparing personal tax returns and corporation tax returns.
  • Assisting clients with their accounting software, including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
  • To ensure work is being undertaken in the most efficient manner, being up to date with the most recent software developments and working methods.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the line manager and senior accounts manager as the work arises.
  • To undertake administration for the line manager and senior accounts manager including new client on boarding and department billing.
  • Setting budget for staff and assisting staff with accounts completion.
  • Training and mentoring trainees within the department.
  • To have excellent client relationship skills and handle client queries in a positive and client focused manner.

Candidates will need to:

  • Be qualified to AAT/ACCA/ACA or equivalent by experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience of accounts preparation work including knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

  • Attention to detail and methodical working manner

  • Ability to prioritise work and communicate with the team and senior accounts manager regarding workflow

  • Experience of basic tax return preparation and willing to undertake new (challenging) tasks

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, external and internal

  • Excellent client communication and supervisory skills and have great work ethic

  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement

  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel spreadsheet development

  • Bookkeeping and VAT experience

  • Experience using Xero, Sage and/or QuickBooks
